    Hot Dogs and Spaghetti

    Friday, January 25

    1 (1)

It was Jesse’s turn to choose and help cook supper.

    1 (2)

Elizabeth helped him make this hot dog and spaghetti meal.

    1 (3)

They had so much fun poking the spaghetti through pieces of hot dog.

You will need a fairly large kettle.

    What a fun, delicious meal.

I didn’t use a lot of water, and when the spaghetti was cooked I added some velveeta cheese.

It was a beautiful, snowy evening.

Cerwin said he could not resist these beautiful roses when he saw them at the grocery store this afternoon.

I love fresh flowers on a cold, wintery day.

The scent of this delicious hot pastry welcomed everyone to breakfast.

Because Josh is the only one who had school, we tried to structure our day to include a variety of things – starting with exercise.

Ian, Jared, and Jesse would stay here all day if I allowed it.

After lunch we planned a few meals and other activities. This is Jesse’s list. He loves to make notes and lists.

    Three Birds

    In Three Minutes

    DSC_3601

I am always pleased when I go to the kitchen window and see a bird that I don’t see every day.

    DSC_3603

I see Downy woodpeckers fairly often, but not this one, its larger twin the Hairy woodpecker.

    DSC_3607

I walked away from the window to check the pictures I had taken and when I went back – a few seconds later – I thought my eyes were deceiving me.

    DSC_3608

I was surprised that a red-bellied woodpecker had so quickly taken its place.

    DSC_3609

I told our granddaughter Elizabeth about the two birds then went back to the window.

    DSC_3614

A new, more familiar bird, a dark-eyed junco, had taken the woodpecker’s place.

I took these eight pictures in just under three minutes.

    Sunrise

    &

    Family Meals

    1-21 (1)

We have been enjoying many beautiful sunrises and sunsets in recent weeks.

     1-21 (3)

After Cerwin left for work at the TFC shop on Monday (January 21), he called to make sure I didn’t miss the beautiful sunrise.

Elizabeth, our oldest granddaughter, has been here from Maine since early January, but has not had the opportunity to spend much time with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, so we made that happen this week.

Elizabeth did the cooking and invited Jeff and Chris and their family for supper on Tuesday evening.

We don’t often have just one family at a time, eat in the dining area of our kitchen, and use our good dinnerware.

    DSC_3570

The toppings for the salad were fruit and nuts.

Chicken Cordon Bleu was the main dish.

Jere and Kristen’s family was here on Wednesday night: Cerwin, Jesse, Ian, Jared, Kristen, Elizabeth, Jana, and Jere.

Roy, Jared, Cerwin, Elizabeth, Josiah, Josh, Jesse, Deb, and Jana.

Due to distance it didn’t work out for Roy and Deb to come during the week, so we met them at Infinitos Pizza. We had Jere and Kristen’s children today, so they were also included in the pizza buffet – which everyone enjoyed. (Ian was at a Sunday school class activity.)

    DSC_3877

We always enjoy seeing what Jesse chooses at a buffet.

    I love our family!
