Taking the Chapel to Line Lexington

...continued from yesterday's post

Sunday, November 8

Following the opening songs and comments, Bunny O'Hare (Director of Chaplain Wellness) told a bit of TFC's history, how we got to where we are today, and some things that happened to him while serving as a chaplain on the Restorer Chapel near Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

Chaplain Allan Graham shared a bit of his life-story (being raised in a childrens' home) and also some experiences while serving on the Life-Saver Chapel, Elkton, Maryland.

A highlight of my morning was watching a woman to my left make these notes for her handicapped daughter.

An explanation of the notes: After Bunny prayed with a driver, a coworker came to the chapel, quite angry that Bunny gave the first driver a false hope by praying for him to find a house.  The coworker was a Hell's Angel, big burly, and angry.

Sometime later the Hell's Angel showed up at the truck stop, looking and acting quite different.  Bunny didn't recognize him until he introduced himself.  He had been deeply affected when the Lord quickly answered the first driver's need for a house, and eventually invited Christ into his life, and was water baptized with his young son.

The last two sentences are from Allan's message.

This is the lady who was writing the notes.  She was quite surprised when I asked for permission to photograph her note.  Her daughter is in the red.

Sunday School generally follows their worship service.  However, on Missions day, there is no Sunday School.  Everyone was encouraged to visit our chapel and the displays in the fellowship hall.

When trying to work with the sun in getting a photo of the chapel and church, I had to walk into the cemetery.

Sam Rittenhouse (back to camera) and Bunny and Peg in front of him, manned the display, and visited with those who had questions about the ministry.  In this photo they are visiting with Floss and Merle Hunsberger (to Sam's right).

A few people even checked out the cab.

We had lots of visitors in the chapel.

After all was said and done, Sam, Bunny, Peg, Allan, and Cerwin relaxed, discussed the morning, and decided where to go for lunch.  We chose a restaurant just up the street.

Chaplain Allan wanted a photo next to the chapel.

Peg and Bunny decided this may be a good time for them to get a photo as well.

After stowing the chapel steps in the storage compartments under the trailer, and preparing the chapel for travel, we headed home.  This pretty, leaf-covered sidewalk was a view outside my passenger window when we stopped for traffic.

It was a tiring, but encouraging day.

@blessed_7_times - We ask a church or event sponsor to cover our fuel and travel expenses, so will go where ever invited.  This one is TFC's promotional chapel.

We have a permanent chapel at the Greensboro TA, I-85/I-40 & Hwy 61, Exit 138, Whitsett, NC.  If you ever want to stop by, you may want to check the hours with Chaplain Tony or Ron.  803-640-4230.  We have a few chapels that are open 24/7, but I don't think there are enough staff and volunteers to keep that one open around the clock.
