    Supper With Friends

    1 (1)

After leaving Hershey Christian School, we took the chapel to its home at the TFC Office and had about ten minutes to brush our teeth and “freshen up” a bit before meeting Chaplain Tom and Janis Kemp at the Kountry Kitchen.

    1 (2)

Tom and Janis are visiting our area - from Washington where he is lead chaplain at the North Bend Chapel near Seattle.

It is always fun to enjoy a meal with friends.

     2 (1)

I think these doves feel the same way – that it is a good thing to enjoy a meal with a friend.

I like this view of the chapel – from the top of the steps.

After lunch I located Karen’s room before going back to the chapel.

Then it was time to go back to her job as the principal.

    2 (6)

We went back to the chapel to prepare for the arrival of 2nd grade.

This is how we closed each presentation – after reminding the children of a few things they can do for truck drivers.

A highlight of the day was when we joined the students for the closing chapel service where the “missionaries” were asked to stand in front of the stage, and several students were asked to come forward and choose a missionary. Then one by one they prayed for us.

    Part 1 of 2

Cerwin and I enjoyed the beautiful drive from Marietta to Hershey. This photo was taken just after we passed Hershey Medical Center. We had to take the long way because of having a full rig.

Karen Weidner (school principal and wife of TFC President, Scott Weidner) was waiting for us.

We had a beautiful spot to park.

As we were walking the school halls – on the way to morning devotions – I liked seeing the chapel through classroom windows.

We were told that “Missions Day” usually features foreign missionaries, but this year the staff felt led to feature local missionaries.

“Ring, Ring, The Call Is For You” was a challenge to listen for God’s call and serve Him now – right where you are…

…on the ball field, in school, in the gym, and in the community.

    1 (15)

After introductions and prayer for the day, we went out to the chapel to wait for our first class of students.

    1 (16)

    Fifth grade came first.

After a brief introduction by Cerwin, I lowered the lights and the two of us gave a twenty-minute PowerPoint presentation – introducing the children to trucks, truck drivers, and Transport For Christ.

    1 (17)

Afterwards they got a “tour” of the living quarters – where I am standing to take this picture – before leaving the chapel and going to their next missionary class.

    Josiah’s Injury

    &

    Maple Syrup

    1 (1)

Our grandson Josiah stopped in last Wednesday afternoon when I was working outside in a flower bed.

I was a bit puzzled to see him so early in the day – then noticed that something was wrong with his left hand.

    1 (2)

This is what it looked like a few days later. He cut his hand with a grinder wheel at work when welding.

    1 (3)

He had a dual purpose for coming that day. This is Maine maple syrup – gathered and cooked by his mom and siblings. He had been to Maine a few days earlier.

    1 (4)

I could hardly wait to have a pancake and maple syrup.

    Thanks, Diane. It is delicious.
