Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

Interesting Field Harvester
On Sunday, May 5, our church had our annual Guess Who’s Coming for Dinner?
This year we signed up as guests and learned that we would be going to Marlin and Sue Cassel’s home. Her table was set for ten, so I knew there would be more guests.
The other family was Dave and Bev Rogers and three of their children. Left to right, Marlin (with his back to the camera), Sue, Cerwin, Bev, Dave, Andrew, his girlfriend, Stephanie Greiner, Joanna, and Rebecca.
Another view.

The next day I noticed an unusual piece of equipment in my brothers’ field next to us.
I noticed that it was an Oxbo from Messicks, so I googled it and found that it is called a “merger”.
The advertisement says “merge hay without running over it.”
The farm girl in me loved the scent of rye.
It was fascinating to watch.

This view shows how close the field is to our yard.
I was working on my blog later that night when I heard the equipment in the field again – this time picking up the rye.
I understand from my youngest brother’s facebook that they got a really good crop - almost twice as much as last year.
