My Favorite Quilt
Brethren Disaster Relief Auction – Part 1
September 21 & 22
It was fun being asked to photograph the Brethren Disaster Relief Auction again this year.
Our friend John Minnich is a professional photographer, and has been doing their photography for many years. The other year when he could not attend, I was asked to take his place, and since then he continues with his professional skills and I do the candid photography - which gives me the freedom to just have fun with my camera.
This butterfly quilt caught my attention on my first walk through the quilt section.
There were many beautiful quilts, but this one stayed in my number one position throughout the weekend.
It was named Woodland Butterfly and was 98″ x 108″.
I was secretly hoping that it would bring the highest price.
According to my notes it brought $1,750.00 – putting it in second place at the quilt auction.

Many more pictures to come.

That is the most beautiful quilt I’ve ever seen.
@ata_grandma - I agree!
Gorgeous!
What’s a Brethren Disaster, anyway?
@Roadkill_Spatula - This auction and other activities of the weekend raise thousands and thousands of dollars to help rebuild areas where a disaster (flood, tornado, etc.) has happened. Because our church is Church of the Brethren, it is called Brethren Disaster Relief Auction. This is the ministry link http://www.brethren.org/bdm/ the auction link for the one I photograph is here http://brethrendisasterreliefauction.org/.
Wow, that is a beautiful quilt! I think it uses the same triangular ruler to cut the wedges that I bought for the spicy spiral quilt I made. But what a creative use of the wedges to make the butterfly!
@cerwindoris - I was joking because I saw the words “Brethren Disaster” and it struck me as amusing.
@piecedtreasures - As you can tell, I agree – It is a beautiful quilt.
@Roadkill_Spatula - You must tell me when you are just kidding!
