I would appreciate your prayers tomorrow - Tuesday, November 13.
I am having surgery to remove a parathyroid. We have four parathyroids which are located in the general area of the thyroid, but are not related to the thyroid. They are each about the size of a grain of rice.
One of mine is overworking, causing a problem for the other three. This is called hyperparathyroidism. The first symptom is usually high calcium in a person’s blood, which my primary care doctor has mentioned following my yearly checkup the past few years.
The danger of not taking care of this is osteoporosis and the draining of strength from my body’s bones and muscles.
This is outpatient surgery. My surgeon, Dr. Piepgrass, is a Christian who attends the same church as my friend Inge Koenig (TFC Staff). He told me to plan to be at the hospital for six hours. I must be at Ephrata Hospital by 10:30 a.m. for surgery at 1:15 p.m.

Will think of you tomorrow, Doris.
Said a prayer for you, Doris. Wishing you the best possible outcome.
Praying for you, sister ~ Isaiah 26:3-4. Small world... A gal from our church just had parathyroid surgery this AM.
@slmret - @ANVRSADDAY - @naphtali_deer - Thank you! I appreciate your love and prayers.
Prayers sent towards you, I hope this resolves the issue for you.
You will certainly be in my prayers and may you have a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
@sarahflorida1085 - Thanks!
@myhopeisinjesus - Thanks. There is supposed to be a quick recovery with this surgery.
first time I had heard of this. Prayer said. Bless you!
@rnjennison - Thanks. Many people haven't heard of it- the reason I explained it a bit.
I'm so grateful that they have a way to help you and take care of your problem.
Oh no! I wish you the best tomorrow. I had to get a biopsy done in a out patient clinic, it wasn't fun. I am looking forward to hearing how things went.
I didn't read about this until today. I pray that you are over the surgery and home again. I don't care how "minor" the surgery is, it is always "major" if it involves cutting. And I hope all the ensuing news is GOOD! Thinking of you!
@Buckeyegirlie - Surgery is over, and I am home and feeling great.
