Thanksgiving Day - Part 1
The day started with an encouraging Thanksgiving service at church. Our hearts were blessed to hear children, young people, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents share about God's blessings in their lives.
Then half of our family went to Jere and Kristen's for lunch. The rest were either in Maine or had other family meal plans.
When we arrived Kristen was basting the turkey.
She and Jere make a turkey with spices and a marinate that is hard to match for taste.
Jere preparing to make gravy.
Someone was pouring sparkling grape juice.
Now you know who that someone was!

Look behind you Deb and Jana! Now we know who stole half of one of the cookies.

I tried again and they switched their focus.

Me and Cerwin.
Thanks for the delicious meal, Jere and Kristen. I missed getting a photo of you two. I guess you were too busy.
Jere and Kristen are legal guardians for an elderly man and his son, and both men have been in and out of the hospital in recent weeks. Right now Greg (the sixty-something-year-old-son) is in the hospital following a fall yesterday, so we brought Ian, Jared, and Jesse home with us for the night so Jere and Kristen can spend the afternoon and evening in the hospital.
Josh and Jana went home with Roy and Deb to go Black Friday shopping tomorrow morning at 2:00 a.m.
I would rather be sleeping at that time!

I'm sith you. No black Friday shopping for me!
@ata_grandma - I may shop on the internet, but that is as close as I will get to shopping tomorrow.
That looks like a wonderfully quiet family party (hmm -- not enough people there!!!). I love the two shots of Jesse and Josh switching focus -- wouldn't have noticed without your prompt, but how funny to see them both switch! And those are good shots of you with Deb and with Cerwin! I, too, will be sound asleep at midnight (actually some stores here are opening as early as about 10 pm tonight!) -- but then I have to spend tomorrow choosing photos for my family photo calendar gift, or they won't be ready in time!
I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving celebration. It's always good to get to spend some time with your family. The wife and I went down to the outlets a couple miles away at 9pm to get a few things. It wasn't too crazy and we made it in and out without any drama. She got the pretty smelling stuff she gets every year from Bath and Body Works and I got a large electric skillet that will make it easier to cook pancakes for this large family. ($15, I was very proud of myself) All the rest of our shopping, except for each other, is done, so we're enjoying another quiet day today cleaning up around the house.
Hi Doris, you and your family and friends really know how to have a great meal and celebrate.
