Lunch & The Chapel for Calgary
Wednesday January 30 & Thursday January 31
Elizabeth, Jesse, and I straightened up the house while Cerwin did some shopping for the TFC chapel he is building - before leaving for lunch with the Sauder cousins.
It was fun for us to have our oldest and youngest grandchildren at this lunch.
Cerwin's mother (center - facing the camera) was the only aunt at this lunch.
It is delightful to have lunch with Cerwin's cousins and their spouses.
I love living in the country!
While waiting for the bus to bring Ian and Jared home, I enjoyed watching these neighbor men visit for several minutes before another vehicle interrupted them.
Jesse is delighted to have "his boys" home again.
Thursdays are usually busy with chapel construction as this is when several volunteers come from Living Waters Chapel near Lebanon, PA.
They are making good progress as they transform an ordinary freight trailer into a chapel.
The guys are making sure to use plenty of insulation so chaplains and drivers will stay warm during Calgary's winters.
All Pro Dad
Wednesday, January 30
Because Jere and Kristen were away on a business trip during this week, Jere asked Cerwin if he would be available to take Ian and Jared to the All Pro Dad's Breakfast at our local grade school where they attend.
Cerwin was delighted to take the boys to this breakfast.
Cerwin was thrilled as he listened to this man share the principles of the All Pro Dad team.
We are pleased that our local public grade school promotes a program like this!
You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate
instead of compete or fight.
That’s when you discover who you really are,
and your place in God’s family.

Jesse's Special Day
Tuesday, January 29
The line of cars as I waited to pick up Jesse at preschool.
Because his birthday is during the summer, he gets a special day during the school year.
He was excited to get a new coloring book and a few snacks and trinkets.
During reading time Jared often chooses something that concerns science or bugs.
On this day Ian choose his Children's Bible.
He later came to me - with great excitement - asking if I knew that the streets of Heaven are pure gold (clear gold!). We tried to imagine what it would be like to walk or run on the streets of Heaven.
While I prepared supper, I asked them to find a book that they could read to me out loud. On the previous night they read God's Wisdom for Little Boys.
On this night they chose God's Wisdom for Little Girls.

These two books became a favorite for them during this stay at our house.

A School Day
Monday, January 28
This is what it looked like when Cerwin took Jana, Ian, and Jared to their bus stop.
While they were at school Elizabeth made a white cake so Ian could do the fun part when he got home.
After poking holes in the cake, he poured lime Jello over it,and then refrigerated it until supper time.
During breakfast Jared asked if he could make the two designs on the back of the box.
I told him that he could work on it after school - and he didn't forget.
Jesse goes to preschool and showed me the three words he learned: First, Next, and Last.
Before supper the boys did some reading.
Ian and Jared took turns reading from this book - which I love.
It was Jesse and Ian's turn to help with supper.
Ian made his favorite food - buttered noodles.
When he browns the butter, I make sure it is in a deep kettle so it doesn't accidentally cook over.
Jesse putting ice cubes in the cups. (Yes, he washed his hands first.)

It was a great day!
