    Visiting & Bluebirds

    Friday, March 1

Last Friday we spent several hours with Cerwin’s mother.

First we went to Denver Nursing Center and visited Aunt Naomi, Mother’s ninety-two year-old sister, who spends much of her time in bed because she can’t walk and can barely see.

It was a delightful visit and we had fun getting them to reminisce a bit about their childhood.

Next we visited Uncle Eli who had to spend some time at Pleasant View Retirement Community in rehab after a hospital experience. He is married to Esther, a sister to Cerwin’s father.

Again we had fun talking about some interesting events from his early life.

Before taking Mother home, we stopped for groceries.

I was delighted to look out the window the other day and see an eastern bluebird.

They are not rare in our yard, but are not as frequent as I would like.

I always hope a pair will choose a bird house that is in our front yard.

  • Wonderful shots of the bluebird!  It’s another bird we don’t see here ,  It’s always fun to hear the elderly reminisce, and it must have been really interesting conversation between siblings.  I’m so thankful to have my health, and not be bedridden at age 72!

  • I do enjoy those birds with vivid colors!

  • @slmret - When you mentioned 72, I went back to see what I had written about her age. Thanks, because she is 92! I was talking to a grandson and helping Cerwin enter phone numbers in his new cell phone while also working on my blog. That is probably why I did notice I wrote the wrong age – because I had double checked her age of 92 with Cerwin. :)

  • @DanishDoll - Me too. It is so delightful to see colorful birds at or near our feeding area.

  • I noticed the age 72 last evening and could hardly believe Ella has a sister so much younger than she! 92 makes a lot more sense! That is a really sweet picture. The bird photos are gorgeous!

  • What a sweet picture of sisters holding hands! We haven’t seen any bluebirds yet but we did have a red-winged blackbird at the feeders the other day — a good sign of things to come!

  • You are so blessed to have bluebirds ~

  • @musicaljean - There are times when I think I shouldn’t post at night, but that is when it suits me. It is always embarassing to find mistakes in the morning. :)

  • @fwren - @fwren - I am so tempted to buy mealworms so I see them more often, but I spend so much time in my office – away from the feeding windows that I am not sure I want to spend the money on another kind of bird food. :)

  • @cerwindoris - That just makes it even more interesting to hear them reminisce together!  And maybe there’s hope for me after all — at least for a while — lol !
