Visiting Amish Friends
Part 1 of 2
Saturday Evening, April 13
It was a beautiful, spring evening for a forty-five-minute drive.
As we neared Georgetown we saw some incredibly beautiful farmland.
Also, as we neared the farm, we saw many Amish buggies.
Entering their driveway.

They have a beautifully manicured farm.
After a delicious chicken barbecue supper, Lizzie (daughter-in-law of Jake and Rachel) showed us her puff quilt. Our daughter Deb is on the right.
After Deb read this, she emailed me asking if I realized that Lizzie is making this quilt for her and Roy. I did not know that.
Rachel is working on a quilt in one end of the kitchen.
After the remains of supper were put away and dishes done, we went outside. Many of us sat next to the fire because it was a cool evening.
My view of the meadow and area around me as I sat near the fire.
I have another set of pictures for tomorrow night.

I’d love to know more about the puff quilt. Do you have the pattern or the instructions?
What beautiful countryside! I love the third shot of the buggy — with all 4 of the horse’s feet in the air — great capture! And those quilts are magnificent!
@GrannyHummingbird - Sorry, I do not know anything about quilts.
@slmret - Thanks! They are Roy and Deb’s friends, and we are enjoying getting to know them.
I’m always interested in seeing pretty farms, and the ones in your neighborhood are always beautiful. What a treat to get to visit and to see inside that most interesting kitchen! I’d love to sit down at that quilt frame for a little while. Looking forward to the rest of the show!
Is that a white magnolia tree ~ stunning! and that puff quilt is fascinating ~
@AmericanJanet - I would have loved to take more pictures, but Amish are uncomfortable with photos.
@fwren - I do not know what kind of tree that is. We just noticed it as we drove by because it was in full bloom.
What beautiful quilts!! The scenery is breathtaking too.
