Sunrise to Sunset On a Nice Fall Day
Sunrise on a dewy morning
A northern mocking bird came to enjoy the morning with me.
As did a chickadee and a house finch.
I have been seeing a hairy woodpecker recently, which is rare at our feeders. They look exactly like a downy woodpecker, but are different in size. A hairy woodpecker is about 9 inches long while the downy is only about 6 inches long.
The leaves in our woods are beginning to change colors.
And many are browning on the ground.
A praying mantis on a living room window.
A beautiful sunset.
God created a beautiful day.

lovely!
You have had a beautiful day!!! It was nice here as well, between heat waves!
What a glorious day and evening. Lovely photos. I think the woodpecker looks cool. I was in the city so I saw select bugs, but now that I live in a semi country setting, I’ve been seeing beetles and praying mantis’ galore. God did create a lovely day and you took the most beautiful pictures…
@sarahflorida1085 - It was!
@slmret - This was actually several days ago – but Saturday was beautiful as well. We had frost instead of dew on the ground.
@ShadesOfAnnie - Thank you. Praying that you will have a lovely day today.
ahhhh ~ the moon shot is awesome ~
what a beautiful fall or autumn day you had. God is good!
“Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears”
This song went through my mind when I saw your title…
how good it is to slow us down to see the God made beauty right outside your doorway
GORGEOUS nature pictures, you are so good !
@fwren - I enjoy trying to get good moon shots now and then.
@jillcarmel - I enjoy beautiful autumn days.
@maryhurlbut - I thought about using that verse, but I had done that earlier in the summer so tried for something a bit different.
@Want2FitIn2Fat2Fit - You are so kind. I would be nothing without the beautiful things that God has created.
@cerwindoris -
yup yup yup
Love your pictures (as usual), but especially those of the sunrise on the dewy morning.
Beautiful photos and I love the idea of photos from throughout a complete day. Would be a fun project for some of my students to do and then to write about the day, of course! : ) And, being a transplanted Virginian, I love the changing season you captured.
Request: may I copy and store away the Praying Mantis photo. I put together and run an event each year for the regional and, sometimes, state Science Olympiad competition. I mostly do the “study and test” events which change around every few years. One that comes around regularly is “Don’t Bug Me”, which, of course, is a test about bugs. I can think of several questions to go with the fantastic view of the underbelly of your mantid. I would only use the photo in the setting of the competition–would print it and place it at a station for students to view and answer questions. It’s perfectly fine for you to say “No.”
I found your blog through a comment you made to Manuelmusings, who are both good friends, and one of the families in the homeschooling Charter School where I am a teacher.
Enjoy your fall. Lititz has got to be one of the most beautiful places to see in the fall!
