Canada Geese
Monday Evening, January 7
I got more than I bargained for when I went outside to take a picture of the sunset several nights ago.
The quiet was suddenly broken when a flock of Canada geese came into the area.
It was breathtaking to be outside on a quiet evening and hear and watch them fly overhead.
As usual I could hear their honking!
I suppose I heard it before…
…but it was interesting to hear the flapping of their wings as they flew just above our tree tops.
Then they were gone – probably to a nearby field or pond.

Lovely!
What a wonderful sight — I’d love to see a flock of geese fly by! There used to be a field where they’d stop for a few days on their way through, right by the freeway where we could not stop. I never actually saw them migrating. And now that field is a housing tract, with no possibility of a stopover!
@song_of_praise - @slmret - Canada geese are not that unusual in our area, but it was the combination of a quiet sunset and the swoosh of their wings that stayed with me.
What a treat! Sometimes in the spring we will have some land briefly on our pond. I love to hear their honking.
@purpleamethyst76 - There is usually a pair on the nearby farm pond, but I don’t usually hear them coming and going.
