    A Skunk

    In Our Bird Feeding Area

I know it is springtime when there is a skunk in our bird feeding area about the time I go to bed.

It was not impressed when I opened the small garage door to get a picture, and because I was looking at it from the backside, I did not linger.

The next night it was facing me, so I was a bit braver with the picture-taking.

Here it was scrunched up and bouncing on its legs like it wanted to scare me away.

It made me smile, because that is exactly what Keebler (Roy and Deb’s pet skunk) does when we play with him in the house.

  • You are one brave lady, Doris. I don’t think I would begin to get that close. Of course, if you are acquainted with Roy and Deb’s little skunk, maybe, just maybe, you are a little more confident than I would be. I do think that if a skunk was “scrunched up and bouncing on its legs” that I wouldn’t hang around to take a picture.

This is another classic “Doris” post, and I enjoyed it. As usual. I just don’t tell you enough. THANKS!

  • Wonderful shots of the skunk, Doris! We do see skunks here once in a while, but I’ve not seen one that close in many years!

  • I betcha he WAS trying to scare you away, and I betcha if you had not left, he’d have whirled around and done something more definite!!!  LOL   He’s probably cleaning up bird seed and any insects the dropped seed attracts.    I gotta say, I ain’t as brave as you!!!!

  • @Buckeyegirlie - @slmret - @GrannyHummingbird - Thanks for your comments. I was partially behind the door, so I did have an easy escape.

  • Hos can skunks be so cute and smell so Awful?

  • @ata_grandma - I just try not to alarm them, because I like that they eat the grubs in our yard.
